Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

An important political figure said the attack made him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.

"This act affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
